My name is Laura Eydmann and I am a freelance graphic designer and artist living and working in Brixham, by the sea in Devon. I love being creative and when I’m not designing, I’m making things for my online store Sunshine and Shenanigans. I concentrate primarily on prints and greetings cards.
I studied Graphic Design with Typography at the University of Plymouth in 2009 and after a brief spell working part time for Devon Carers as their Communication Officer, I started Laurapakora Design. I became a full time freelance Graphic Designer, and Devon Carers were my first regular client! Over the last 10 years I have worked for many different companies, individuals and organisations, including Age England UK, the Met Office,Paignton Zoo and Devon Carers, on print and web projects. I like to learn, and have taken many online courses and tutorials to learn new skills and to keep up to date with software and trends, drawing, painting and calligraphy courses and Adobe Software tutorials in particular. I like to be experimental and creative, not within my work and in my spare time.
I am currently studying towards my Masters in Graphic Design, with Falmouth Flexible (part of Falmouth University). You can see some of my work online on my portfolio.
I love to travel and see new places, and over the years I have sailed across the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing yacht, cruising around Florida, The Bahamas, Bermuda, The Azores and Northern Spain. I have sailed around the South coast of Devon, Dorset and Hampshire, as well as across the Channel to the Channel Islands and Northern France. I’ve driven up the Pacific Highway in California, from San Diego up to the Redwoods. My latest adventure before Covid-19 was travelling to Australia to see my sister and some friends, travelling around the Sunshine Coast and camping and driving from Ningaloo Reef to Broome, snorkelling, running and spending some time in the sunshine! My partner, daughter, our dog and I now camp around Devon and Cornwall when time and the weather allow!
